Of course all quality dental treatment will start with a thorough evaluation of your current dental health. We perform complete dental checkups for both new patients and our existing patients. These may include full X-Rays of all your teeth so that our highly experienced dentists get an accurate picture of any issues that may need attention.
Should you require any treatment our experienced dentists will put together a detailed, personal treatment plan. They will then discuss these treatments with you and explain why they need to be done, what will be involved, what you can expect and which treatments should be performed first if any of them are more urgent. We will also advise you of the cost of your treatment.
Our aim is that when your treatment is complete you leave us wearing a great big smile.
Smiling because you have received the BEST treatment and care at Scartho Dental Practice. More importantly we want to see you sharing your smile with the world BECAUSE YOU CAN!
Crowns, bridges and veneers
A crown is used to entirely cover or “cap” a damaged tooth. Besides strengthening a damaged tooth, a crown can be used to improve its appearance, shape or alignment. A crown can also be placed on top of an implant to provide a tooth-like shape and structure for function. Porcelain or ceramic crowns can be matched to the color of your natural teeth. Other materials include zyrconia, gold and metal alloys, acrylic and ceramic.
Your dentist may recommend a crown to:
Replace a large filling when there is not enough tooth remaining.
Protect a weak tooth from fracturing.
Restore a fractured tooth.
Cover a dental implant.
Cover a tooth that has had a root canal treatment.
A bridge may be recommended if you’re missing one or more teeth. Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite. A bridge can be imagined like 2 or more crowns bonded together .
Gum disease is swelling, soreness or infection of the tissues supporting the teeth. Gum disease is caused by plaque. This is a film of bacteria which forms on the surface of the teeth and gums every day. The first sign of gum disease is blood on the toothbrush. Your gums may also bleed during eating, leaving a bad taste in your mouth.
You may be referred to our hygienist who will advise you and demonstrate specific oral hygiene methods to help you to remove the plaque bacteria that collect on the your teeth.
We use ultrasonic scalers which remove all deposits of tartar/calculus. Once your gum condition has stabilised we advice regular hygiene visits to ensure that your gum health remains stable.
Scartho dental practice offers a full range of tooth whitening options. Ask one of our experienced staff to discuss the different options with you.
We offer fully colour matched composite and resin fillings so that your teeth retain their natural look. Just another way we keep your smile perfect.
Root Canal Treatment
We offer full root canal treatments where the health of the tooth allows. Root canals are used to treat infections inside your teeth to combat internal decay. These infections can occur as a result of cavities, leaky fillings or shock damage for example after a fall.
Dentures And Night Guards (Removable Appliances)
A night-guard is a protective device made for you which covers the teeth to prevent and reduce injury to teeth.
You may need to wear one if you are grinding during the night.
These devices may help reduce muscle activity in your jaw at night. They create a physical barrier between your upper and lower teeth to protect them from further damage. They also help reduce any grinding noises that you may make at night.
Night-guards are usually made out of bendy rubber or plastic and can be made by your dentist to fit your mouth.
